I’m your personal financial and fundamental skills mentor, and my story probably sounds a lot like yours.
Growing up, money conversations were simple: give 10% to church, don’t lease cars, and always keep a $100 cushion in your checking account “just in case”. Beyond that, I was on my own. I did attend a banking camp in middle school where I learned how to balance a checkbook and write checks – but not how to actually live financially in the real world.
So when I started my career in financial services in 2000, I was already behind.
I learned fast – but what I was taught was mostly product knowledge, not true financial empowerment. Over time, I began to see the gap: the advice being given didn’t always work in my favor. Like so many others, I had to learn the hard way – navigating debt, digging out of a credit hole (even with a “good” credit score), and figuring out taxes, insurance, and mortgages for the first time as I went.
And that’s the problem.
Most of us are learning the biggest financial decisions of our lives while we’re making them – which puts us at a serious disadvantage.
For years, I told myself that if I ever won the lottery, I’d create a camp to teach real-life money skills – the kind we should have learned all along. Today, I don’t need the lottery, I built it anyway.
Now, I help individuals and teens understand what’s really going on behind the scenes – so they can confidently navigate credit, buying power, budgeting, investing, insurance, and homeownership without feeling overwhelmed or taken advantage of.
Because there is nothing more rewarding than watching someone go from confused and stressed… to confident and in control.
And I’d love to help you do the same.
